Get 95% OFF Universal Audio’s Electronic Music Bundle and Discover Shimmer Guitar, the FREE Guitar Sample Library by The Crow Hill Company

  • by

Universal Audio is currently offering a massive discount of 95% on their Electronic Music Bundle. Additionally, The Crow Hill Company has recently launched Shimmer Guitar, which is a guitar sample library available for free. This release marks the fourth instrument in their ongoing FREE Vaults series.

Christian Henson's brainchild, The Crow Hill Company, has recently launched Shimmer Guitar, the latest addition to their FREE Vaults series. If you're familiar with Christian's previous work with Spitfire Audio, you'll find the Vaults series to be quite similar.

Currently, the Vault offers a collection of four instruments that are available to download for free. These instruments include the Attic Grand, R+D Strings, Celestatone, and Shimmer Guitar.

All of these instruments, including previous releases from Spitfire Audio, share a common trait, which is their unique personality or character.

The uniqueness of the character usually arises from the instrument being a highly distinct model, having undergone a specific aging process, being recorded in a specific location, or a combination of these factors.

The Shimmer guitar brings together a guitar that has been aged to perfection, a classic amplifier, and the prestigious setting of one of the most renowned orchestral recording studios in the world.

The guitar used for the recording was a Gibson Les Paul with a hollow body, although this wasn't the initial intention. Originally, the plan was to buy a vintage guitar second-hand on the same day, but instead, a Kay semi-hollow-body electric guitar was acquired.

Although it had initially seemed promising, due to various technical problems, the Kay had to be replaced with the Les Paul, which turned out to be a more suitable alternative.

The sound recording was done at Lyndhurst Hall in AIR Studios located in London. To accurately capture the essence of the sound, they used a Les Paul guitar along with an old Supro tube amplifier.

The Supro amplifier did not have any built-in effects, but three Marshall stacks were placed on the higher floor of the hall. These Marshall stacks were equipped with delay effects to create the desired atmosphere.

Similar to the instruments found in other Vaults, the Shimmer Guitar is equipped with six macros. These macros consist of two larger central controls and four smaller controls located below.

The main controls for this device are Filter, which is a low-pass filter, and Shimmer. Additionally, there are other controls such as Drive, which provides a British-style dirt effect, Mod for flanging, Echo, and Splosh. By adjusting the settings, you can apply reverb before the delay effect by reversing the Echo and Splosh functions.

Shimmer is the enchanting element that connects all things, and when you have the perfect combination of earthiness, spaciousness, atmosphere, and clearness, the result is truly remarkable.

I am enjoying the instruments available in the Vault up until now, and I am anticipating the inclusion of more unique and delightful additions, similar to Spitfire Audio's LABS collection.

If you haven't explored any content from Vaults yet, I recommend beginning with Attic Piano and progressing to Shimmer Guitar. These are delightful small offerings that are available for free.

Take a look at this offer: The Shimmer Guitar is available for free to all members of the Crow Hill Company, as part of the Vaults plugins package.

Has LABS ceased to exist?

To provide a response to the question asked, it appears that the subject in question is no longer alive.

It has been seven months since the last release of LABS, which used to come out on a monthly basis. Christian was the driving force behind LABS, and without him, it seems to have lost its momentum.

Hello, my name

It seems unlikely that there will be any new LABS releases unless Henson decides to come back to Spitfire Audio. However, it's great to see that he is carrying on the LABS tradition with Vaults. It has a similar look and feel to LABS, and it seems like there will be a lot more patches released for it in the future.

MOD UPDATE: Kindly avoid engaging in political rants or insulting fellow BPB readers in the comments section. The online world can be a negative environment, but at BPB, we don't tolerate such behavior. We encourage peace and love for everyone!

I am sorry

Oh no! My devious scheme to incite a revolution using the comment section of a website has been foiled once again. You have outsmarted me, sir. Bravo, well done… *the sound of thunder can be heard in the distance*

I'm curious as to why my comment about Christian being a transphobe was removed. I didn't say anything disrespectful; I simply wanted to provide information to others about who they decide to support.

There is not

Serious musicians prioritize the quality of their plugins and instruments rather than their origin. They are preoccupied with their professional commitments and financial responsibilities, leaving them with little time to concern themselves with the opinions and personal lives of others.

Hello Łukasz, the article's focus is on a virtual instrument that is available for free. Any comments that are not related to music production, such as gender politics or other unrelated topics, will be removed. This is because these types of discussions often become heated and I do not want that on BPB. There are many other platforms where these subjects can be discussed. My goal is for BPB to be a space where people, including myself, can learn about music, engage in music-related discussions with fellow music enthusiasts, and escape from the toxicity that is prevalent on the internet. Thank you.
