Take advantage of a 95% discount on Universal Audio's Electronic Music Bundle. The Crow Hill Company has recently launched Shimmer Guitar, a guitar sample library that is available for free. This is the fourth instrument to be released in The Crow Hill Company's FREE Vaults series.

Christian Henson is the founder of The Crow Hill Company. If you are familiar with Christian's previous work at Spitfire Audio, you will find the free Vaults series to be similar. Recently, the company introduced Shimmer Guitar, the latest addition to the FREE Vaults series.

Up until now, there are a total of four instruments that can be accessed for free in the Vault. These instruments include Attic Grand, R+D Strings, Celestatone, and Shimmer Guitar.

All of these instruments, including previous releases from Spitfire Audio, share a common feature, which is their unique personality or character.

The uniqueness of the character in a musical instrument often arises from its specific model, a specific aging process, a specific recording location, or a combination of these factors.

The shimmer guitar is created by using an old and well-preserved musical instrument, a classic amplifier, and the renowned recording studios of a famous orchestra.

The instrument used for recording was a hollow-body Gibson Les Paul guitar, but it was not the initial intention. Originally, the plan was to buy a vintage guitar that was pre-owned on the same day, but instead, a Kay semi-hollow-body electric guitar was acquired.

Although it was initially appealing, the Kay had to be replaced with the Les Paul due to certain technical difficulties. The Les Paul served as a suitable alternative, ensuring a fair solution.

The sound recording was done at Lyndhurst Hall at AIR Studios in London. To accurately capture the unique qualities of the sound, the Les Paul guitar was combined with a classic Supro tube amplifier.

The Supro amplifier did not have any built-in effects, however, there were three Marshall stacks placed on the upper level of the hall with delay effects to create the desired atmosphere.

Similar to other instruments in the Vaults collection, the Shimmer Guitar features six macros. These macros consist of two prominent central controls and four smaller ones positioned below.

The primary controls at the center of the device are Filter, which allows for low-pass filtering, and Shimmer. In addition, there are Drive for British-style dirt, Mod for flanging effects, Echo for echo effects, and Splosh. By adjusting the settings, you can route reverb into the delay by reversing the Echo and Splosh functions.

Shimmer is the enchanting element that connects and enhances everything, and when you have a perfect combination of soil, vastness, atmosphere, and clearness, it produces a truly incredible sound.

I am enjoying the instruments available in the Vault at the moment, and I anticipate that there will be even more unique and delightful additions in the future, similar to Spitfire Audio's LABS collection.

If you haven't explored any content from Vaults yet, I suggest beginning with Attic Piano and gradually moving towards Shimmer Guitar. These are delightful small gifts that you can get for free.

Take a look at this offer: The Shimmer Guitar is being offered as a complimentary part of the Vaults plugins for all members of the Crow Hill Company.

In response to the current question, it appears that whatever is being referred to is no longer alive.

It has been 7 months since the last LABS release, which used to occur monthly. LABS was primarily managed by Christian, and with his departure, it seems that the momentum for the project has diminished.

I don't believe there will be any new LABS released, unless Henson decides to come back to Spitfire Audio. However, I am pleased that he is continuing the LABS tradition with Vaults. It has a similar appearance and functionality to LABS, and it seems that there will be many more patches available for it in the future.

My apologies,

Oh no! My clever scheme to incite a revolution by manipulating the comment section of a website has been foiled once again. I must admit, you have outsmarted me. Bravo, sir. Bravo… *the sound of thunder echoes in the distance*

I am curious about the reason behind the removal of my comment regarding Christian being a transphobe. I did not make any offensive remarks; I merely aimed to educate individuals about the person they choose to endorse.

I'm sorry

Genuine musicians prioritize the quality of their plugins and instruments over their origin. They are more concerned about their own financial responsibilities and obligations. They don't have the luxury of time to be preoccupied with other individuals' opinions and personal matters.

Hey Łukasz, the article is about a virtual instrument that you can use for free. Please keep in mind that any comments about politics or other unrelated topics will be removed. These types of discussions tend to get heated, and I don't want that on BPB. There are plenty of other platforms where you can talk about these things. I want BPB to be a safe space where people can learn about music, have enjoyable discussions with other music enthusiasts, and escape the negativity that often exists online. Thank you.
