Take advantage of a huge discount of 95% on Universal Audio's Electronic Music Bundle. The Crow Hill Company has recently launched Shimmer Guitar, a guitar sample library that is available for free. This release marks the fourth instrument in the FREE Vaults series by The Crow Hill Company.
Christian Henson is the founder of the Crow Hill Company. If you are familiar with Christian's previous work with Spitfire Audio, then you will find the free Vaults series to be similar in style. Recently, the company introduced Shimmer Guitar, which is the fourth instrument to be released in the FREE Vaults series.
Currently, within the Vault, there are a total of four instruments that can be accessed for free. These instruments include the Attic Grand, R+D Strings, Celestatone, and Shimmer Guitar.
All of these instruments, as well as previous releases from Spitfire Audio, share a common characteristic, which is their unique personality or character.
Usually, the uniqueness of the character in music instruments stems from factors such as it being a distinct model, having a specific age, being recorded in a particular location, or any possible combination of these elements.
The shimmer guitar is created by using an old and well-preserved musical instrument, a classic amplifier, and a renowned recording studio that is known for its orchestral recordings.
The instrument used for recording was a Gibson Les Paul guitar with a hollow-body design. However, this was not the initial intention. The initial plan was to buy an old, pre-owned guitar with a vintage feel on the same day of the recording. Ultimately, a Kay semi-hollow-body electric guitar was chosen instead.
Although it was initially promising, certain technical problems arose with the Kay, necessitating its replacement with the Les Paul, which was a suitable alternative.
The recording session occurred at AIR Studios in London, specifically in Lyndhurst Hall. In order to accurately capture the essence and unique qualities of the sound, they chose to use a vintage Supro tube amplifier in combination with the Les Paul guitar.
The Supro amplifier did not have any additional sound effects, however, three Marshall stacks that had delays were placed on the higher level of the hall in order to create the desired atmosphere.
Similar to the other instruments in the Vaults collection, the Shimmer Guitar includes six macros. These macros consist of two prominent central controls and four smaller ones positioned beneath them.
The main features of this device are the Filter control, which is used for low-pass filtering, and the Shimmer control. Additionally, there are other controls such as Drive, which adds a British-style dirt effect, Mod for flanging, Echo for echo effects, and Splosh. It is possible to adjust the Echo and Splosh settings to have reverb effects before the delay.
Shimmer is the enchanting element that unifies all things, and when you have the perfect combination of earthiness, vastness, atmosphere, and precision, it creates a truly incredible sound.
I am enjoying the instruments that are currently available in the Vault, and I anticipate the addition of more unique and delightful options, similar to the LABS collection by Spitfire Audio.
If you haven't explored any content from Vaults yet, begin by trying out Attic Piano and then progress to Shimmer Guitar – these are delightful small gifts available for free.
Take a look at this amazing offer: The Shimmer Guitar is now available for free to all members of the Crow Hill Company, as part of the Vaults plugins package.

Has LABS ceased to exist?

In response to the question, it appears that the subject in question is no longer alive.
The most recent release of LABS occurred 7 months ago, even though they were previously released on a monthly basis. LABS was primarily managed by Christian, and his absence may have contributed to its decline in activity.

I don't believe there will be any new LABS releases unless Henson decides to come back to Spitfire Audio. However, I'm glad that he is carrying on the LABS tradition with Vaults. It has a similar look and feel to LABS, and it seems like there will be many more patches available for it in the future.

Oh no! My cunning scheme to incite a revolution using the comment section of a website has been foiled again. You have outsmarted me, sir. Impressive move indeed… *the sound of thunder can be heard in the distance*
Hello, my name is Ł
I'm curious as to why my comment regarding Christian being a transphobe was removed. I didn't say anything inappropriate; I simply wanted to raise awareness about who people are choosing to support.
I'm sorry
Musicians who are truly dedicated to their craft prioritize the quality of their plugins and instruments over their origins. They are occupied with their professional commitments and financial responsibilities, leaving them little time to concern themselves with the opinions and personal affairs of others.

Hello Łukasz, the subject of the article is a virtual instrument that is available for free. Any comments that touch on politics (including gender politics) or other unrelated topics will be removed. These types of discussions tend to become contentious, and I do not want that on BPB. There are plenty of other platforms where these subjects can be discussed. My goal for BPB is to create a space where people, including myself, can learn about music, have enjoyable discussions with other music enthusiasts, and find respite from the negativity that is prevalent on the internet. Thank you.
