Save 95% on Universal Audio's Electronic Music Bundle, a comprehensive package for music production. The Crow Hill Company is offering Shimmer Guitar, a guitar sample library, completely free of charge. This is the latest addition to their ongoing FREE Vaults series.

Christian Henson is the founder of The Crow Hill Company. If you are familiar with Christian's previous work with Spitfire Audio, you will find the free Vaults series to be similar in style. Recently, the company launched Shimmer Guitar, which is the fourth instrument in the FREE Vaults series.

Currently, the Vault offers a collection of four instruments that are available for free. These instruments include the Attic Grand, R+D Strings, Celestatone, and Shimmer Guitar.

All of these instruments, as well as previous releases by Spitfire Audio, share a common feature, which is their unique personality or character.

The uniqueness of the character in an instrument is often derived from it being a distinct model, having a specific aging process, being recorded in a particular location, or a combination of these factors.

The shimmer guitar is created by combining a guitar that has been aged over time, a classic amplifier, and the utilization of one of the most renowned orchestral recording studios globally.

The instrument used in the recording was a Gibson Les Paul guitar with a hollow body, although it was not initially intended to be that way. The initial intention was to buy a vintage guitar that was previously owned on the same day of the recording. However, they ended up using a Kay semi-hollow-body electric guitar instead.

Although the Kay initially seemed promising, it had to be replaced with the Les Paul due to various technical problems. The substitution of the Les Paul was a suitable alternative.

The audio recording occurred at Lyndhurst Hall, located in AIR Studios in London. In order to accurately capture the essence and unique qualities of the sound, the Les Paul guitar was used together with a classic Supro tube amplifier.

The Supro amplifier did not have any built-in effects, but three Marshall stack amplifiers with delay effects were set up on the higher level of the hall to create the desired atmosphere.

Similar to the other instruments in the Vaults collection, the Shimmer Guitar is equipped with six macros. These macros consist of two prominent central controls and four smaller controls positioned below them.

There are two main controls in this device called Filter (low-pass) and Shimmer. Additionally, there are other controls such as Drive (which adds British-style dirt), Mod (which creates a flange effect), Echo, and Splosh. It is also possible to reverse the order of Echo and Splosh, so that the reverb effect comes before the delay effect.

Shimmer is the enchanting element that connects all things, and when you combine the perfect mix of earthiness, openness, atmosphere, and sharpness, the result is a truly remarkable sound.

I am enjoying the instruments available in the Vault at the moment, and I anticipate the addition of more unique and delightful options, similar to the LABS collection by Spitfire Audio.

If you haven't explored anything from Vaults yet, begin with Attic Piano and gradually move on to Shimmer Guitar – they are delightful small gifts available for free!

Take a look at this offer: The Shimmer Guitar is available for free to all members of the Crow Hill Company as part of the Vaults plugins package.

Has LABS ceased to exist?

In response to the specific question, it appears that the subject in question is no longer alive.

It has been 7 months since the previous release of LABS, which used to be a monthly occurrence. LABS was primarily managed by Christian, and it seems that after his departure, the project lost momentum and eventually came to a halt.

I don't believe there will be any new LABS releases unless Henson decides to come back to Spitfire Audio. However, I'm glad that he is carrying on the tradition of LABS with Vaults. It has a similar appearance and functionality to LABS, and it seems like there will be many more patches released for it in the future.

Oh no! My cunning scheme to incite a revolution by manipulating the comments on a website has been foiled yet again. I must admit, you have outsmarted me. Impressive move, my dear adversary. Impressive indeed… *the sound of thunder can be heard in the distance*

I'm curious why my comment about Christian being a transphobe was removed. I didn't say anything disrespectful; I simply wanted to raise awareness about who people are endorsing.

I'm sorry

Musicians who are truly dedicated to their craft prioritize the quality of their plugins and instruments over their origin. Their main concern is creating music of high standards. They have responsibilities such as jobs and bills to take care of, leaving them with little time or energy to be concerned about the opinions and personal lives of others.

Hello Łukasz, the article is about a virtual instrument that is available for free. Any comments discussing politics, including gender politics, or any other topics unrelated to music production will be removed. These types of discussions tend to become heated and I do not want that on BPB. There are many other platforms where these topics can be discussed. My goal for BPB is to create a space where people, including myself, can learn about music, engage in music-related discussions with other music enthusiasts, and escape from the toxic environment that is prevalent on the internet. Thank you.
