The Crow Hill Company is offering Shimmer Guitar, a guitar sample library, completely free of charge.

As part of the FREE Vaults series, the fourth instrument released by The Crow Hill Company is Shimmer Guitar.

The Crow Hill Company was created by Christian Henson and is a project that he came up with. If you are familiar with Christian's previous work with Spitfire Audio, you will find the free Vaults series to be similar in style. Recently, the company has launched Shimmer Guitar, which is the fourth instrument in the FREE Vaults series.

Currently, the Vault offers a total of four instruments that can be accessed for free. These instruments include Attic Grand, R+D Strings, Celestatone, and Shimmer Guitar.

What unites all of these instruments, as well as previous releases by Spitfire Audio, is that each one possesses a unique and recognizable personality or character.

The uniqueness of the character usually stems from the instrument being a distinct model, having a specific age, being recorded in a particular location, or a combination of these factors.

The Shimmer guitar is created by combining a guitar that has been used for a long time, an old-fashioned amplifier, and a recording studio that is renowned for its orchestral recordings.

The guitar used for recording was a Gibson Les Paul with a hollow body. However, originally the plan was to buy a vintage guitar on the same day, but instead, a Kay semi-hollow-body electric guitar was chosen.

Although it had initially seemed promising, the Kay had to be replaced with the Les Paul due to certain technical difficulties. The Les Paul was chosen as a suitable replacement and considered to be more than satisfactory

The recording session happened at Lyndhurst Hall in AIR Studios, located in London. In order to capture the true essence of the sound, they used a vintage Supro tube amp alongside the Les Paul.

The Supro amplifier did not have any built-in effects, but there were three Marshall stacks placed on the upper level of the hall with delay effects to create the desired atmosphere.

Similar to the other instruments in the Vaults collection, the Shimmer Guitar includes six macros. These macros consist of two prominent central controls and four smaller ones positioned below them.

There are two main controls called Filter (low-pass) and Shimmer in this device. Additionally, there are Drive (providing a British-style dirty sound), Mod (providing a flanging effect), Echo, and Splosh controls. If desired, you can adjust Echo and Splosh to have reverb effects before going into the delay.

Shimmer is a mystical element that connects all things, and when you combine the right combination of earth, atmosphere, surroundings, and purity, the result is a truly remarkable sound.

I am enjoying the musical instruments available in the Vault and I am looking forward to the possibility of more unique and delightful additions, similar to the LABS collection by Spitfire Audio.

If you haven't explored any content from Vaults yet, begin with Attic Piano and gradually move towards Shimmer Guitar. These are delightful small gifts that you can enjoy for free.

Take a look at this offer: The Shimmer Guitar is now available as a complimentary addition to the Vaults plugins for all individuals who are part of the Crow Hill Company.

Has LABS ceased to exist?

In response to the real question, it appears that the subject in question is no longer alive.

It has been 7 months since the previous release of LABS, which used to occur on a monthly basis. LABS was primarily managed by Christian, and his departure seems to have caused a decline in its momentum.

Soroosh

I don't believe there will be any new LABS releases unless Henson decides to rejoin Spitfire Audio. However, I'm glad that he is carrying on the tradition of LABS with Vaults. It has a similar appearance and functionality to LABS, and it seems that there will be plenty of new patches available for it in the future.

Oh no! My devious scheme to incite a revolution by engaging in the comment section of a website has been foiled once again. You have outsmarted me, sir. Bravo, well done… *a distant sound of thunder*

I'm curious as to why you removed my comment about Christian being a transphobe. I didn't say anything offensive; I simply wanted to educate others about who they are choosing to support.

Sorry, but

Musicians who are truly dedicated to their craft prioritize the quality of their plugins and instruments over their origin. They have responsibilities like employment and bills to handle, leaving them with little time to concern themselves with the opinions and personal lives of others.

Hello Łukasz, the article is about a virtual instrument that is available for free. Any comments that are not relevant to music production, such as discussions about politics or other unrelated topics, will be removed. This is because these types of conversations often become heated and I do not want that on BPB. There are many other platforms where such discussions can take place. My goal for BPB is to create a space where people, including myself, can learn about music, have enjoyable discussions with fellow music enthusiasts, and find a sense of peace away from the negativity that is often found on the internet. Thank you.
