Save 95% on Universal Audio's Electronic Music Bundle. The Crow Hill Company has recently launched Shimmer Guitar, which is a guitar sample library available for free. This release marks the fourth addition to the FREE Vaults series by The Crow Hill Company.
The Crow Hill Company was created by Christian Henson. If you are familiar with Christian's previous work with Spitfire Audio, you will find the free Vaults series to be similar in style. Recently, the company launched Shimmer Guitar, which is the latest addition to the FREE Vaults series.
Currently, there are a total of four instruments available for free in the Vault. These include the Attic Grand, R+D Strings, Celestatone, and Shimmer Guitar.
All of these instruments, including previous releases by Spitfire Audio, share a common feature, which is their unique personality or character.
The uniqueness of the character often arises from factors such as the instrument being a distinct model, having a specific age, being recorded in a particular location, or a combination of these factors.
The shimmer guitar is created by taking an older guitar that has been well-preserved, pairing it with a classic amplifier, and then recording its sound in one of the most renowned orchestral recording studios globally.
Initially, the intention was to acquire a used vintage guitar on the day of the recording session. However, circumstances led to the selection of a Kay semi-hollow-body electric guitar instead. As a result, the chosen instrument for the recording was a hollow-body Gibson Les Paul, which deviated from the original plan.
Although it may have initially seemed appealing, the Kay had to be exchanged for the Les Paul due to certain technical problems. The Les Paul proved to be an entirely suitable alternative.
The sound recording happened at Lyndhurst Hall in AIR Studios located in London. To accurately capture the essence of the sound, the Les Paul guitar was paired with a classic Supro tube amplifier.
The Supro amplifier did not have any built-in effects, however, three Marshall stacks with delay effects were strategically placed on the upper level of the hall to create the desired atmosphere.
Similar to the other instruments in the Vaults collection, the Shimmer Guitar includes six macros. These macros consist of two larger controls located in the center, as well as four smaller controls
There are two main controls called Filter (low-pass) and Shimmer. Additionally, there are Drive (British-style dirt), Mod (flange), Echo, and Splosh controls. By adjusting the Echo and Splosh settings, you can create a reverb effect before the delay.
Shimmer refers to the enchantment that unifies all elements, and when there is a perfect combination of soil, atmosphere, surroundings, and distinctness, it produces a truly remarkable sound.
I am enjoying the musical instruments that are currently available in the Vault. I anticipate that there will be more unique and delightful additions in the future, similar to the LABS collection by Spitfire Audio.
If you haven't explored any content from Vaults yet, I suggest beginning with Attic Piano and gradually making your way to Shimmer Guitar. These are delightful little offerings that you can enjoy without any cost.
Take a look at this offer: The Shimmer Guitar is now available for free to all members of the Crow Hill Company, as part of the Vaults plugins collection.

Has LABS ceased to exist?

In response to the specific inquiry, it appears that the subject in question is no longer alive.
It has been 7 months since the previous release of LABS, which used to happen on a monthly basis. LABS was primarily handled by Christian, and his absence seems to have resulted in its loss of momentum.

I don't think there will be any new LABS releases unless Henson decides to come back to Spitfire Audio. However, I'm glad that he is carrying on the LABS tradition with Vaults. It has a similar appearance and gameplay to LABS, and it seems like there will be plenty of new patches released for it.

Oh no! My cunning scheme to incite a revolution by manipulating comments on a website has been foiled once again. I must admit, you have outsmarted me. Impressive move, sir. Impressive… *the sound of thunder can be heard from afar*

I'm confused why you removed my comment regarding Christian being a transphobe. I didn't say anything disrespectful; I simply wanted to raise awareness about the person individuals choose to endorse.
I'm sorry
True musicians prioritize the quality of their plugins and instruments rather than their origin. They are occupied with their professional commitments and financial responsibilities. They do not have the luxury to concern themselves with the opinions and personal lives of others.

Hello Łukasz, the article is about a virtual instrument that is available for free. Please refrain from making any comments about politics or other non-music related topics, as they tend to lead to heated discussions.
