Artificial intelligence (AI) is currently gaining a lot of attention and interest. In addition to our previous discussion about AI music generators, this innovative technology is now being employed to create MIDI files, enhance audio, and perform various other tasks.

I have prior knowledge of the team at Axart Software because of their impressive mKer sequencer suite designed for the iPad. However, it was unexpected to discover that they also offer an artificial intelligence-powered drum sequencer for both Windows and Mac operating systems.

AutoBeat offers a paid version, but the free version also provides ample features to explore. Therefore, let's delve deeper into its offerings and examine them closely.

Autobeat has a central focus on offering a variety of genres to create drum beats. Users have the option to choose from 8 different genres, including electronic styles such as house, techno, and DnB.

Additionally, there are a total of 12 tracks available for use, which should be sufficient for the majority of MIDI-based drum machines compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems. Personally, I found it beneficial to utilize Autobeat in conjunction with Algonaut's Atlas.

Since I had decided to use AI, I thought it would be best to fully commit and aim for great success.

You have the option to choose the thickness, size, and strength of each design. The randomization feature also adds a touch of organized disorder to the combination.

In my experience, I discovered that setting it to approximately 25% yielded the most effective results. Otherwise, I observed that things tended to become abstract too rapidly.

With Autobeat's paid version, you have the option to export MIDI to the drum machine plugin that you prefer. If you are comfortable with routing MIDI, then you are in for a pleasant surprise.

I appreciate the flexibility of being able to customize the mapping of things according to my workflow. The interface is intuitive and easy to understand, allowing for individual muting and soloing on each of the 12 tracks. Furthermore, it is possible to save multiple patterns, with a total of 128 patterns being stored across 8 prompts.

If you're struggling with creating percussive elements, Autobeat is a great option to try. However, I had to make some adjustments to specifically focus on the elements of my Atlas kits that I wanted to improve.

Once I figured it out, I started moving quickly and efficiently.

Autobeat can be used on both Windows and Mac computers. It is specifically designed to work seamlessly with Apple Silicon, which is a great advantage.

Get AutoBeat app now, you can choose between the free or paid versions.

This software is not functional for me and it causes my digital audio workstation (Samplitude) to become unresponsive. I had to uninstall it due to these issues.

When using it in Ableton, the software generates MIDI data but does not produce any sound. Therefore, you must route the MIDI data into a new channel that contains a drum kit or virtual instrument in order to hear the generated sound.

I'm sorry, but the

Hmm, now it has completely ceased to function.

Terrible. This is not any form of artificial intelligence, but rather just a collection of patterns.

I tested out Ableton Live 11 on a Dell G5s Ryzen 17 computer running Windows 10, with 16GB of RAM. I installed and loaded a VST plugin in a MIDI channel, and also loaded a Live Impulse drum application. I followed a video tutorial and discovered that I needed to route the MIDI channel to send the input to the drum VST. I connected everything and pressed play, but there was no sound. I tried again with a different application, hoping to assign the MIDI notes to the loaded samples, but still had no luck. Eventually, I uninstalled the application. It was quicker for me to manually load the VST3 and DLL Speedrum Lite, load it into Live, and manually create my own drum notes for a "random" pattern.

The Axart website is not accessible anymore. This raises some suspicion…
