Save 95% on Universal Audio's Electronic Music Bundle, a collection of software and plugins. Additionally, Autobeat is a drum sequencer plugin powered by artificial intelligence, and it is available for free. Axart Software recently launched AutoBeat, a drum sequencer plugin that can be used on both Windows and macOS. While there is a paid version,
Artificial intelligence (AI) is currently very popular and widely discussed. In addition to the previously mentioned free AI music generators, this technology is now being employed to create MIDI files, manipulate audio, and perform various other tasks.
I have previous knowledge of Axart Software and their impressive mKer sequencer suite for the iPad. However, I was taken aback to discover that they also offer an AI-powered drum sequencer for both Windows and Mac operating systems.
While AutoBeat does offer a paid version, there is still a lot to discover and enjoy with the free version. Therefore, let's delve further into its features and explore what it has to offer.
Autobeat's main feature is its variety of genres that can be used to create drum beats. Users have the option to choose from 8 different genres, including electronic ones such as house, techno, and DnB.
Additionally, there are a total of 12 tracks available for use, which should be sufficient for the majority of MIDI-controlled drum machines compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems. Personally, I found myself utilizing Autobeat in conjunction with Algonaut's Atlas.
Since I realized that I was utilizing AI, I thought it would be best to fully embrace it and aim for the highest level of success.
You have the ability to choose how dense, long, and intense each pattern is. Additionally, the randomization dial adds a touch of organized chaos to the combination.
In my experience, I discovered that setting it to approximately 25% yielded the most effective results. Otherwise, things tended to become abstract rather rapidly.
With Autobeat's premium version, you have the option to export MIDI to any drum machine plugin you prefer. If the process of routing MIDI doesn't bother you, then you're in for a special experience.
I appreciate the flexibility of being able to customize the mapping of elements according to my own workflow preferences. The interface is user-friendly and easy to understand, allowing for quick navigation. Moreover, there are separate controls for muting and soloing each of the 12 tracks. Additionally, the device allows for the storage of multiple patterns, with a total of 128 patterns that can be saved across 8 different prompts.
If you're feeling stuck in terms of creating percussive elements, Autobeat is a great option to consider. However, I did have to make some adjustments to specifically focus on the elements of my Atlas kits that I wanted to improve.
However, once I had figured it out and got the hang of it, I was able to proceed quickly and efficiently.
Autobeat can be used on both Windows and Mac computers. It is specifically designed to work smoothly on Apple Silicon, which is a great feature to have.
Get AutoBeat app on your device now for free or with paid options.

The software is not functioning properly on my computer and causing my digital audio workstation (Samplitude) to freeze. It is unfortunate, so I have decided to uninstall it once again.

When using it in Ableton, the software creates MIDI data but does not produce any sound. To hear the sound, you must run it through a channel and route the MIDI data into a separate channel that has a drum kit or virtual instrument (VST) loaded.

Hm, now it has completely stopped functioning.

This is rubbish. It does not possess any form of artificial intelligence, it is simply a collection of patterns.

I tested it with Ableton Live 11 on a Dell G5s Ryzen 17 running Windows 10 and equipped with 16GB of RAM. I successfully installed and loaded a VST in a MIDI channel, as well as loaded a Live Impulse drum app. I followed a video tutorial, which taught me that I needed to route the MIDI channel to feed the drum VST. However, when I linked and pressed play, there was no sound. I attempted the process a second time with a different app, hoping to assign the MIDI notes to the loaded samples, but still had no success. As a result, I uninstalled the app. I found it more efficient to manually load the VST3 and dll Speedrum Lite, load it into Live, and create my own drum notes for a "random" pattern.

The Axart website is no longer accessible. This seems quite suspicious…
