Explore the Power of AutoBeat: A Free AI Drum Sequencer Plugin for Windows and macOS

  • by

Save 95% on Universal Audio's bundle of electronic music plugins. Autobeat, an AI drum sequencer plugin, is now available for free. Axart Software has recently released AutoBeat, a drum sequencer plugin for both Windows and macOS (with a paid version also offered).

Artificial intelligence (AI) is currently a popular and widely discussed topic. In addition to previously exploring AI music generators, this technology is now being employed for MIDI generation, audio editing, and numerous other purposes.

I have previous knowledge about the team at Axart Software because of their fantastic mKer sequencer suite designed for the iPad. However, I was taken aback to discover that they also offer an AI-powered drum sequencer for both Windows and Mac operating systems.

While AutoBeat does offer a paid version, there is still a lot to discover and explore with the free version. Therefore, let's delve into it further and examine its features.

The foundation of Autobeat lies in its variety of genres that produce drum beats. Users have the option to choose from 8 different genres, including electronic styles such as house, techno, and DnB.

Additionally, there are a total of 12 tracks available for use in this software. This number is generally sufficient for the majority of drum machines that are MIDI-driven and compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems. Personally, I found it beneficial to utilize Autobeat in conjunction with Algonaut's Atlas.

As I thought, since I was using AI, I might as well fully embrace it and aim for the highest level of success!

You have the option to choose the thickness, size, and strength of every design. Additionally, the randomization dial brings an element of controlled disorder to the combination.

In my experience, I discovered that the optimal setting was approximately 25%. This was because I observed that things tended to become increasingly abstract at a faster rate if the setting

With Autobeat's paid version, you have the option to export MIDI to your preferred drum machine plugin. If you are comfortable with routing MIDI, then you are in for an enjoyable experience.

I appreciate the flexibility of being able to customize the mapping of things according to my own workflow. The interface is intuitive and easy to understand, and each of the 12 tracks has its own mute and solo options. Moreover, I can save and access multiple patterns, with a total of 128 patterns being stored across 8 prompts.

If you're struggling with coming up with ideas for percussion in your music, Autobeat is definitely worth trying. However, I did have to make some adjustments to specifically focus on the elements of my Atlas kits that I wanted to improve.

Once I had figured it out, I quickly started making progress.

Autobeat can be used on both Windows and Mac operating systems. It is specifically designed for Apple Silicon, which is an exciting feature.

Get AutoBeat now by downloading it for free or purchasing the paid version.

This software is not functioning properly and causing my digital audio workstation (Samplitude) to freeze. I had to uninstall it due to these issues.

I'm sorry, but "

When using it in Ableton, the tool creates MIDI data but does not produce any sound. Therefore, you have to run it in a channel and then route the MIDI into a separate channel that has a drum kit or virtual instrument (VST) loaded in it.

Hmm, now it has completely ceased to function.

Sorry, but

Whenever I click on any button, FL Studio immediately crashes.

This is rubbish. It does not contain any form of artificial intelligence, but rather just a collection of patterns.

I tested it with Ableton Live 11 on a Win10 Dell G5s Ryzen 17 with 16GB of RAM. I installed and opened a VST in a midi channel, and I also loaded a Live Impulse drum app. I followed a video tutorial and discovered that I needed to route the Midi channel to connect with the drum VST. After linking and hitting play, I realized there was no sound. I tried again with a different app, hoping to assign the midi notes to the loaded samples, but still had no luck. I decided to uninstall the software. It was quicker for me to manually load the vst3 and dll Speedrum Lite, load it into Live, and create my own drum notes for a "random" pattern.

The Axart website is no longer accessible, which raises suspicions.
