  • by

There are 40 pictures available of a young George Strait, who has been a prominent figure in the country music industry for over four decades. Surprisingly, George Strait didn't develop a passion for country music until he reached high school.

The individual, who is now considered an icon, was born on May 18, 1952 in Poteet, Texas. He grew up in a family that owned a large ranch, and as a teenager, he developed a keen interest in news radio and the farmer's report. This was influenced by his involvement in helping out on the ranch, as he always wanted to be well-informed about the latest news and updates.

Strait began his music career during his time at Pearsall High School by being a part of a rock band called the Stoics. Even after he went to college, he continued pursuing music by joining a country band called Stoney Ridge. He discovered the opportunity to join the band after responding to a flyer they had put up on campus, specifically looking for a new vocalist.

After assuming the position of the lead singer, Strait took charge by giving the group a new name – the Ace in the Hole Band. Under Strait's leadership, the band began performing at various honky-tonks and bars located in the southern and central regions of Texas.

During the year 1981, MCA Records approached Strait and he agreed to sign with them. As a result, he released his very first single titled "Unwound." This song achieved significant commercial success and reached the Top 10 on the country music charts during that period.

After achieving more success, Strait ventured into the world of acting. In 1982, he landed a role in the film "The Soldier". Since then, he has made appearances in a handful of other movies, with "Pure Country" being particularly notable. Additionally, he lent his voice to a character in the animated series "King of the Hill".

The country heartthrob continued to rise in popularity, becoming a well-known figure in households during the 1990s. He has maintained his prestigious title as the King of Country Music.

Throughout his career, Strait has achieved an impressive feat of accumulating over 60 chart-topping songs and selling millions of records worldwide.
