  • by

There are 40 pictures available showcasing the young days of George Strait. Although George Strait has been involved in the country music industry for over four decades, his personal interest in this genre only developed when he was in high school.

The individual, who is now widely recognized, was born on May 18, 1952, in Poteet, Texas. His parents, Doris and John Strait, welcomed him into the world. During his teenage years, he developed a strong interest in news radio and the farmer's report. This passion stemmed from his family's ownership of a large ranch, where he actively participated and wanted to stay informed about its operations.

Strait began his music career during his time at Pearsall High School, where he played in a rock 'n roll garage band called the Stoics. When he went to college, he continued pursuing music by joining the country band Stoney Ridge after responding to a flyer they had put up on campus, looking for a new singer.

After assuming the role of the band's lead vocalist, Strait took the initiative to change the group's name to the Ace in the Hole Band and assumed a prominent leadership position. The band then began performing at various honky-tonks and bars located in the southern and central regions of Texas.

During the year of 1981, MCA Records approached Strait and he agreed to sign with them. As a result, he released his debut single titled "Unwound." This song achieved significant success in terms of sales, reaching the Top 10 on the country music charts during that period.

After gaining more popularity, Strait decided to venture into acting. In 1982, he got a role in the film "The Soldier". Since then, he has made appearances in a couple of other movies, with "Pure Country" being the most notable. Additionally, he lent his voice to a character in the animated series "King of the Hill".

This popular country singer became incredibly successful and well-known during the 1990s. He was loved by many and was given the prestigious title of King of Country Music, which he still holds to this day.

Strait has achieved over 60 songs that have reached the top spot on music charts during his career and has sold a significant number of records across the globe.
