There are 40 pictures available that showcase a young George Strait. Despite having a career in country music for over four decades, George Strait didn't develop a passion for the genre until he was in high school.
The individual who would later become an iconic figure was born on May 18, 1952, in Poteet, Texas. He was the son of Doris and John Strait. During his teenage years, he developed a strong interest in news radio and the farmer's report. This was likely influenced by the fact that his family owned a large ranch, and he actively contributed to its operations. Consequently, he always had a desire to be well-informed.
Strait began his music career during his time as a student at Pearsall High School. He was part of a rock 'n roll garage band called the Stoics. Even after he went to college, he continued pursuing music by joining a country band called Stoney Ridge. He discovered the opportunity to join the band after responding to a flyer they had put up on campus, searching for a new lead singer.
After taking on the role as the lead singer, Strait decided to change the band's name to the Ace in the Hole Band and took charge as the frontman. They began performing at various honky-tonks and bars in the southern and central regions of Texas.
During the year 1981, MCA Records approached Strait and he agreed to sign with them. He subsequently released his debut single titled "Unwound." This song achieved significant commercial success and reached the Top 10 charts in the country music genre during that period.
As Strait's popularity grew, he made the decision to venture into the world of acting. In 1982, he landed a role in the film "The Soldier." Since then, he has also appeared in a couple of other movies, with "Pure Country" being the most notable. Additionally, he lent his voice to a character in the animated series "King of the Hill."
This country heartthrob was unstoppable, and during the 1990s, he became extremely popular and gained the well-deserved title of King of Country Music, which he still holds to this day.
Throughout his career, Strait has achieved an impressive feat of securing over 60 chart-topping songs and has garnered millions of record sales across the globe.
