Chris Young Clears His Name: Assault Charges Dropped and Trolls Shut Down

  • by

Chris Young confidently responded to critics after all charges against him were dropped following his arrest last Monday.

Using surveillance footage, the singer addressed those who criticized him for touching a police officer on social media, sharing his perspective on the matter.

On Friday, the Nashville District Attorney Glenn Funk declared that he had completed his examination of the evidence, resulting in the dismissal of charges. The Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission had previously acknowledged their role in urging Young to step back after he attempted to get involved in their license verification process.

Taste of Country has obtained a video that shows Young trying to restrain an agent without displaying much aggression. From one angle, it is unclear if he even made physical contact with the man.

The singer of the song "Young Love & Saturday Nights" claims that he never made physical contact with anyone. He recently uploaded a video on TikTok where he addresses the incident, speaking about it publicly for the first time.

"To those who criticize me by saying, 'You shouldn't have laid a hand on a police officer' … I want to clarify that I did not physically touch him," he states.

Now that all the charges have been dismissed, Young is no longer legally involved in the incident. He can now focus on promoting his highly anticipated album, Young Love & Saturday Night, which is scheduled to be released on March 22.
