Chris Young Clears His Name: Assault Charges Dropped

  • by

Chris Young took a stand against his critics after being acquitted of all charges that were brought against him following his arrest last Monday.

The vocalist used social media to share a surveillance video and convey a message to those individuals who accused him of being at fault for physically engaging with a law enforcement officer.

On Friday, Nashville District Attorney Glenn Funk declared that he had completed his examination of the evidence and as a result, the charges were dismissed. The Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission had previously acknowledged that they had urged Young to "create distance" after he attempted to get involved in their license check.

A video, obtained by Taste of Country, depicts Young's behavior as being calm and non-aggressive as he attempts to prevent an agent from doing something. From one perspective, it is doubtful whether Young even made physical contact with the man.

The singer of "Young Love & Saturday Nights" claims that he did not make physical contact with anyone. He recently posted a video on TikTok where he addresses the incident publicly for the first time.

"I didn't physically make contact with the police officer," he states, addressing the individuals who criticize him by saying, "Do not physically engage with a cop."

Since all charges have been dismissed, Young is no longer legally involved in the incident. He is expected to resume promoting his upcoming album, Young Love & Saturday Night, which is scheduled to be released on March 22nd.
