Woman Clings to Hood of Moving Car in Daring Effort to Save Stolen Dog

  • by

In Los Angeles, California, a brave woman resorted to extreme measures to protect her cherished French bulldog from a thief.

On January 18, an incident occurred outside a Whole Foods grocery store where a woman approached Ali Zacharias, who was walking her dog, and forcefully took the pet away from her.

The woman transported the dog, whose name was Onyx, to a white car that was being operated by another individual.

Fearlessly, Zacharias was determined to prevent the thieves from escaping with Onyx. He bravely leaped onto the car's hood and held on tightly as it raced down a crowded street in Los Angeles.

Zacharias recounted his experience where he firmly grasped onto the windshield wipers, determined not to release his grip on the car. Without realizing it, they started accelerating and driving faster down the street, causing Zacharias to panic and fear for his life. This incident was shared with CBS News.

There is a viral video that captures the incident, depicting Zacharias clinging onto the car's hood.

Zacharias recounted the incident to NBC News through a TikTok video, explaining that when he tugged at the leash, she assumed he wanted to go smell something and let go. However, when she looked up, she saw a woman holding her dog and walking away with him. Determined to retrieve her dog, she positioned herself in front of the car and firmly stated that they couldn't leave because they had her dog. Despite her efforts, the individuals in the car disregarded her and drove into her, causing her to fall onto the hood of the car. Even after falling, she remained steadfast, declaring that she wouldn't leave until they returned her dog. Nevertheless, they continued to drive away.

Regrettably, Zacharias' brave attempt to save her cute dog was unsuccessful. She managed to hold on for a short distance before the car abruptly changed direction, causing her to be thrown off, resulting in minor injuries like cuts and bruises. Unfortunately, Onyx is still not found.

"No matter what I'm engaged in, I feel a sense of sadness because I'm not able to do it with Onyx or include him. Like when I'm grocery shopping, I can't help but realize that I'm not getting anything for him. It's surprising how fast time has flown by. It feels like this situation just occurred, but it's already been 10 days," she expressed.

The crime is currently being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department, as reported by CBS. This investigation involves the examination of security footage.
