Keith Urban is playfully teasing his new song, which is his first release in two years. It seems that he is returning to his original sound and style in his latest music.
On Tuesday (Jan. 30), the country singer shared a video on his social media platforms. The video shows him in the recording studio, sitting at the soundboard, while a brand new song called "Straight Line" plays in the background.
He uploaded a follow-up video where he delved into additional information about the song.
The song has a familiar sound that is reminiscent of popular Urban music, featuring a lively guitar melody, energetic drums, and possibly a subtle banjo element. In the song, the artist behind the hit "Wild Hearts" sings about a couple who embark on a carefree journey together, driving into the sunset, valuing only their love for each other.
Urban has announced that the song will be released on Friday, February 2nd, but he has not given any additional information about any future songs, projects, or tours that he may have planned. However, in August, he did mention a new studio album that will be released in 2024.
During the interview, he mentioned that the majority of the album is complete. According to him, there is only one more song left to be recorded completely, and the rest of the tracks just need to undergo the mixing process.
"I am currently in the last phase of completing the plane landing. Expect the release of an album sometime in the upcoming year," he stated.
Keith Urban's most recent album, titled The Speed of Now Part 1, came out in the year 2020. This album marked the longest period of time he has ever taken between releasing albums, and this could possibly be attributed to a particular reason. It was mentioned that after working on a new album in 2022, Urban decided to abandon the project. The reason behind this decision was that he didn't feel a personal connection or resonance with any of the songs that were being created.
According to the individual, they had the potential to create another album. However, they experienced a peculiar sensation as they had never encountered this situation before. They admit that they abandoned approximately two-thirds of the album, only selecting around three songs out of the initial twelve.
Urban has not yet shared any specific information about his musical plans for this year, but it is probable that he will continue his usual pattern of releasing a new album and going on tour during the summer.
