Woman’s Heroic Effort to Save Beloved Dog from Thief Leaves Her Bruised and Hopeful

  • by

In Los Angeles, California, a woman demonstrated immense bravery as she held on tightly to the hood of a moving car in order to rescue her adored French bulldog from a thief.

On January 18, an incident occurred outside a Whole Foods supermarket where a woman approached Ali Zacharias, the owner of a dog, and forcefully took her pet away.

The woman transported the dog, whose name was Onyx, to a white vehicle that was being operated by another individual.

Fearlessly, Zacharias was determined to prevent the thieves from escaping with Onyx. He bravely leaped onto the car's hood and held on tightly as it raced down a bustling street in Los Angeles.

Zacharias recounted his experience, stating that he firmly refused to release his grip on the car and clung onto the windshield wipers. Without realizing it, they started driving down the street at an increasing speed, causing Zacharias to panic and fear for his life.

There is a widely shared video capturing the incident, which shows Zacharias clinging onto the car's hood.

Zacharias recounted the incident to NBC News, explaining that when her dog pulled on the leash, she initially assumed he just wanted to sniff something and let go. However, she was shocked to see a woman holding her dog and walking away with him. In an attempt to stop them, Zacharias positioned herself in front of their car and firmly stated that they could not leave because they had her dog. Instead of stopping, the individuals in the car drove into her, causing her to fall onto the hood of their vehicle. Despite the fall, Zacharias refused to give up and declared that she would not leave until her dog was returned. The car then proceeded to drive away while she clung onto it, as depicted in a TikTok video.

Regrettably, Zacharias' brave attempt to save his cute dog was not successful. Despite holding on for a short distance, the car suddenly changed direction and caused him to be thrown off, resulting in some minor injuries. Unfortunately, Onyx, the dog, is still nowhere to be found.

"No matter what I'm doing, I feel a sense of sadness that I can't do it with Onyx or that he's not able to experience it. For example, when I'm grocery shopping, I can't help but think that I'm not buying anything for him. It's surprising how quickly time has passed, it feels like this just happened. And yet, it's already been 10 days," she expressed.

The crime is currently being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department, who are actively looking into it and also examining security footage as part of their investigation.
