Woman’s Heroic Act: Clinging to Moving Car in a Desperate Attempt to Save Stolen Dog

  • by

In Los Angeles, California, a woman bravely held onto the hood of a moving car to rescue her cherished French bulldog after it was stolen by a thief.

On January 18, an incident took place outside a Whole Foods grocery store where a woman unexpectedly took away the dog belonging to Ali Zacharias, the owner.

The woman carried the dog, whose name was Onyx, and brought it to a white car that was being driven by another person.

Fearlessly, Zacharias was determined to stop the thieves from escaping with Onyx. He bravely leaped onto the car's hood and held on tightly as it raced down a crowded street in Los Angeles.

In the interview with CBS News, Zacharias recounted the intense moment when he refused to let go of the car and tightly gripped onto the windshield wipers. Without realizing it, they began driving down the street, quickly gaining speed, and Zacharias found himself in a state of panic, fearing for his life.

A widely circulated video captures Zacharias clinging onto the car's hood during the incident, causing it to become viral.

Zacharias recounted the incident to NBC News through a TikTok video, explaining that when the person pulled the leash, she assumed they just wanted her dog to smell something, so she let go. However, she was taken by surprise when she saw a woman holding her dog and walking away with him. In an attempt to stop them from leaving, she positioned herself in front of their car and firmly stated that they couldn't go as they had her dog. Instead of stopping, they drove into her, causing her to fall onto the hood of their car. Despite this, she refused to give up and declared that she wouldn't leave until they returned her dog. Eventually, they drove away while she desperately clung onto the car.

Regrettably, Zacharias' brave attempt to save his cute puppy was unsuccessful. He managed to hold on for a short distance until the vehicle suddenly veered, causing him to be thrown off and resulting in minor injuries such as cuts and bruises. However, Onyx, the puppy, is still nowhere to be found.

"I feel a sense of sadness whenever I engage in any activity, as I wish I could do it with Onyx or that he could be a part of it. For example, even when I go grocery shopping, I can't help but think that I'm not buying anything for him. It's astonishing how quickly time has passed. It feels like this just occurred, and yet it's already been 10 days," she expressed.

CBS has reported that the Los Angeles Police Department is currently engaged in a thorough investigation of the crime, which involves carefully examining security footage.
