There have been six unforgettable final concerts by legendary musicians such as Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Daryle Singletary, and more. George Jones was fully aware that his last concert would be his final performance. On the other hand, Daryle Singletary was unaware of this fact, which adds an eerie touch to the song he decided to conclude the night with.
Following the passing of Merle Haggard, there circulated a notable anecdote about Toby Keith's assistance in ensuring Haggard's departure from the stage with his dignity preserved. However, it turned out that this narrative was false. Keith was not present during Haggard's last performance, and the individual who deceived us into believing otherwise was also absent.
In fact, the individual mentioned as actor W. Earl Brown was not present at the performance where Keith provided assistance to Haggard. He had simply heard about it from others.
Connected: 14 Country artists who should be given greater recognition.
Taste of Country uncovered a review of Haggard's last concert and found a remarkable moment that deserves just as much recognition as the Toby Keith hero story. This is just one of the six memories from the final concert, which are shared in the video above (and in pictures below).
This video includes John Denver's final performance, Johnny Cash's last song, and Waylon Jennings' made-for-TV farewell. Overall, it has a bittersweet tone.
We particularly enjoy the Singletary performance. If you are familiar with Johnny Paycheck's song "Old Violin," you would know the significance of where he left it. However, if you are not familiar, I recommend continuing to watch.
