Woman’s Brave Act: Clinging to Moving Car to Save Stolen Beloved Dog

  • by

In Los Angeles, California, a woman displayed immense bravery as she desperately clung onto the hood of a moving car in order to rescue her cherished French bulldog from a thief.

On January 18, an incident took place outside a Whole Foods supermarket where a woman approached Ali Zacharias, the owner of a dog, and abruptly took the pet away from her.

The woman carried Onyx, her dog, to a white car that was being driven by another person.

Fearlessly, Zacharias was determined to stop the thieves from escaping with Onyx. He bravely leaped onto the car's hood and held on tightly as it raced through a crowded street in Los Angeles.

Zacharias recounted to CBS News that he firmly decided not to release his grip on the car while saying, "I am determined to not let go." He clung onto the windshield wipers as the vehicle started moving down the street and accelerating, causing him to panic and fear for his life.

Zacharias was seen gripping onto the car's hood in a viral video capturing the incident.

Zacharias recounted the incident to NBC News through a TikTok video, explaining that when he tugged on the leash, she assumed he wanted to go sniff something, so she released her grip. However, she was taken aback when she saw a woman holding her dog and walking away with him. In an attempt to stop them, she positioned herself in front of their car and firmly stated that they couldn't leave because they had her dog. Despite her efforts, they drove into her, causing her to fall onto the hood of their car. Undeterred, she refused to leave until they returned her dog. Eventually, they drove away while she clung to the car.

Regrettably, Zacharias' brave attempt to save her cute puppy was unsuccessful. She managed to hold on for a short distance, but then the car suddenly changed direction, causing her to be thrown off and resulting in only minor injuries like cuts and bruises. Unfortunately, Onyx, her puppy, is still nowhere to be found.

"I feel a sense of sadness whenever I engage in any activity, as I wish I could be doing it with Onyx or that he could experience it too. For example, when I go grocery shopping, I can't help but feel like I'm neglecting him by not buying anything for him. It's surprising how quickly time has passed since this feeling started. It feels like it was just yesterday, and yet it's already been 10 days," she expressed.

CBS reports that the Los Angeles Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into the crime, which involves reviewing security footage.
