Woman’s Daring Act of Bravery: Clinging to Moving Car to Save Beloved Stolen Dog

  • by

In Los Angeles, California, a woman bravely held on to the hood of a moving car in order to protect her cherished French bulldog from a thief.

On January 18, an incident occurred outside a Whole Foods supermarket where a lady approached Ali Zacharias, the owner of a dog, and suddenly took her pet away from her.

The woman carried the dog, whose name was Onyx, and took him to a white car where another person was driving.

Bravely, Zacharias was determined to stop the thieves from escaping with Onyx. He leaped onto the front of the car and held on tightly as it raced through a crowded street in Los Angeles.

Zacharias recounted how he firmly decided not to release his grip on the car and held onto the windshield wipers. He found himself in a situation where the vehicle was moving down the street and gaining momentum, causing him to feel extreme fear for his life. This account was shared with CBS News.

A video capturing the incident has gained significant attention online, showing Zacharias gripping onto the car's hood.

Zacharias recounted the incident to NBC News through a TikTok video, explaining that when the person pulled the leash, she initially thought they wanted the dog to go smell something and let go. However, she then noticed that a woman had grabbed the dog and was walking away with it. In an attempt to stop them from leaving, Zacharias positioned herself in front of their car and informed them that they had her dog. Despite her efforts, they continued driving towards her, causing her to fall onto the hood of the car. Even in this situation, she remained determined and insisted that she would not leave until they returned her dog. Nevertheless, they drove off.

Regrettably, Zacharias' brave attempt to save his cute dog was unsuccessful. The dog owner managed to hold on for a short distance before the vehicle suddenly veered, causing her to be thrown off and resulting in minor injuries like cuts and bruises. Unfortunately, Onyx is still not found.

"No matter what I'm doing, I feel a sense of sadness because I'm not doing it with Onyx, or because he's not able to experience it. For example, when I go grocery shopping, I can't help but think that I'm not buying anything for him. It's surprising how quickly time has passed. It feels like this situation just occurred, and yet it's already been 10 days," she expressed.

As reported by CBS, the Los Angeles Police Department is currently engaged in a thorough examination of the crime, which involves analyzing security camera recordings.
