6 Chilling Final Concerts: Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Daryle Singletary + More: The Bittersweet Farewells of Country Music Legends

  • by

There have been several haunting final concerts by legendary musicians such as Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Daryle Singletary, and more. George Jones was aware that his last concert would be his final performance. On the other hand, Daryle Singletary was unaware of this fact, which adds an even more eerie tone to the song he decided to conclude the night with.

Following the passing of Merle Haggard, a heartwarming tale circulated about Toby Keith ensuring that Haggard's farewell performance ended with grace and respect. However, this narrative turned out to be false. Contrary to popular belief, Keith was not present during Haggard's last show, and the individual who deceived us into believing otherwise was also absent.

In reality, actor W. Earl Brown was not present at the show where Keith genuinely assisted Haggard in finishing. He had only been informed about it.

Taste of Country found a review of Haggard's last concert and uncovered a special moment that deserves just as much recognition as the Toby Keith hero story. This is one of the six memories from his final concert, which is shared in the video above (and in pictures below).

Included in this poignant video are the final performance by John Denver, the last song sung by Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings' farewell performance made for television.

We absolutely love the Singletary performance. If you are already acquainted with Johnny Paycheck's song "Old Violin," then you already have an idea of the level of talent showcased. However, if you are not familiar with it, we highly recommend that you continue watching as it is truly captivating.
