Woman’s Heroic Act: Clinging to Car Hood to Save Beloved Stolen Dog

  • by

In Los Angeles, California, a courageous woman went to extreme lengths to rescue her cherished French bulldog from a thief.

On January 18, an incident took place outside a Whole Foods supermarket where a woman approached Ali Zacharias, who was with her dog, and forcefully took the pet away.

The woman took Onyx, a dog, and brought him to a white car where another person was driving.

Determinedly, Zacharias refused to allow the thieves to escape after stealing Onyx. He bravely leapt onto the car's hood and held on tightly as it raced through a bustling street in Los Angeles.

Zacharias recounted the incident to CBS News, stating that when he realized the car was being driven away, he firmly grasped onto the windshield wipers and refused to let go. As they continued down the street, the speed of the car increased and Zacharias found himself becoming extremely panicked and fearful for his life.

Zacharias was seen in a video that has become popular on the internet, clinging onto the car's hood.

Zacharias recounted the incident to NBC News in a TikTok video, explaining that when her dog pulled on the leash, she assumed he wanted to smell something, so she let go. However, she was surprised to see a woman grabbing her dog and walking away with him. In an attempt to stop them, she stood in front of their car and demanded that they return her dog. Instead, they drove into her, causing her to fall onto their car hood. Despite this, she remained determined and refused to leave until her dog was returned. Eventually, they drove away, leaving her without her beloved pet.

Regrettably, Zacharias' brave attempt to save her beloved puppy was unsuccessful. She managed to hold on for a short distance, but the car abruptly changed direction, causing her to be thrown off and resulting in minor injuries such as cuts and bruises. Sadly, Onyx, the puppy, is still nowhere to be found.

"I feel a sense of sadness whenever I engage in any activity because I wish Onyx could be a part of it or experience it as well. For example, even when I'm grocery shopping, I can't help but feel a pang of guilt that I'm not buying anything for him. Time seems to have passed by so quickly, and it feels like this situation just occurred recently. However, it's already been 10 days," she expressed.

CBS has reported that the Los Angeles Police Department is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the crime, which includes the examination of security footage.
