Woman’s Heroic Act: Clinging to Moving Car in Desperate Attempt to Save Stolen Dog

  • by

In Los Angeles, California, a courageous woman went to extreme lengths to protect her beloved French bulldog from a thief.

On January 18, there was an incident outside a Whole Foods supermarket where a woman came up to Ali Zacharias, who was walking her dog, and forcefully took the pet from her.

The woman carried the dog, whose name was Onyx, to a white car that was being driven by another person.

Fearlessly, Zacharias was determined to prevent the thieves from escaping with Onyx. Without hesitation, she leaped onto the car's hood and firmly held on as it raced through a bustling street in Los Angeles.

Zacharias recounted his experience, stating that he was determined not to release his grip on the windshield wipers of the car. However, he soon found himself in a situation where the vehicle was accelerating and he became extremely frightened for his safety.

A video capturing the event has become widely popular, displaying Zacharias clinging to the car's hood.

Zacharias described the incident to NBC News in a TikTok video, explaining that when her dog pulled on the leash, she initially believed he just wanted to go smell something, so she let go. However, she then noticed a woman holding her dog and walking away with him. In an attempt to stop them, Zacharias stood in front of their car and told them that they couldn't leave because they had her dog. Instead of stopping, the individuals driving the car continued to drive towards her, causing her to fall onto the hood of their car. Despite this, Zacharias remained determined and declared that she wouldn't leave until they returned her dog. Nevertheless, they continued to drive away.

Regrettably, Zacharias' brave attempts to save her cute dog were unsuccessful. She managed to hold on for a short distance until the car abruptly changed direction, causing her to be thrown off and resulting in minor injuries like cuts and bruises. As of now, Onyx is still nowhere to be found.

No matter what I am doing, I feel a sense of sadness because I am not able to do it with Onyx or because he is missing out on it. For example, when I am grocery shopping, I can't help but think that I am not buying anything for him. It's hard to believe how quickly time has passed. It feels like this situation just occurred, and yet it has already been 10 days, she expressed.

CBS has reported that the Los Angeles Police Department is currently engaged in an investigation of the crime, which involves the examination of security footage.
