Nate Smith was seen spending time with pop-rock artist Avril Lavigne, but there is no romantic relationship between them. Despite being spotted together in Los Angeles on Monday night (Jan. 29), a reliable source connected to one of them has denied any romantic involvement.
They are simply companions with no romantic involvement.
Both The Hollywood Curtain and TMZ recently released individual videos captured by paparazzi, showcasing Smith and Lavigne spending time together. The footage suggests that their hangout session involved a particular activity that perfectly aligns with the image of the "Sk8er Boi" singer: skateboarding.
In a video captured by TMZ, Avril Lavigne is seen getting off the back of a black pickup truck in a gas station parking lot with a skateboard in hand. Shortly after, Smith appears alongside her, wearing his signature leather jacket and black cap. He also has a skateboard, but it is evident that he is not as experienced as Lavigne. As she effortlessly speeds down the sidewalk, he struggles to keep up, using the side of the truck for support.
Footage from the Hollywood Curtain captures the couple leaving Catch Steak, a steakhouse in Los Angeles. It is uncertain if the two videos were filmed on the same evening, but Smith and Lavigne seem to be dressed in similar attire. However, Lavigne would have had to take off her black hooded sweatshirt before departing from dinner.
According to TMZ, Smith and Lavigne were having dinner together as friends, possibly to talk about their plans for new music projects.
It's not surprising that Lavigne is getting involved with the country music scene. In 2023, she joined Miranda Lambert on stage at the CMA Fest to perform "Kerosene" and "Sk8er Boi." Lavigne was also invited to perform at the 2022 ACM Honors ceremony in Nashville, where she honored fellow Canadian Shania Twain by singing Twain's song "No One Needs to Know."
Smith is currently experiencing success on the country radio charts with his newest song, "World on Fire." This track comes after his initial breakthrough hit, "Whiskey on You," which reached the top spot on the charts.
