There have been six unforgettable final concerts from iconic musicians like Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, and Daryle Singletary. George Jones was aware that his last concert was approaching, while Daryle Singletary was not. However, this lack of knowledge only adds to the haunting impact of the song he selected to conclude the evening.
Following the passing of Merle Haggard, there circulated a notable tale of Toby Keith assisting him in gracefully exiting the stage. However, it turned out to be false. Keith was not present during Haggard's last performance, and neither was the individual who deceived us into believing otherwise.
In reality, the individual referred to as "that guy" or actor W. Earl Brown, did not attend the show where Keith provided assistance to Haggard. He simply learned about it through hearsay.
Associated: 14 Country artists who should be given greater recognition.
Taste of Country uncovered a review of Haggard's last performance and found a remarkable moment that deserves just as much recognition as the Toby Keith hero story. This is one of the six lasting memories from the final concert, shared in the video above (and in the pictures below).
This video features the last performance of John Denver, the final song of Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings' made-for-TV farewell. It is a poignant collection.
We absolutely love the Singletary performance. If you are already acquainted with Johnny Paycheck's song "Old Violin," you would know exactly what we are referring to. However, if you are not familiar with it, we encourage you to continue watching.
There are six upcoming concerts that will serve as the final performances from some of the biggest legends in country music.
