6 Chilling Final Concerts: Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Daryle Singletary + More

  • by

There have been six haunting final concerts by legendary artists such as Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, and Daryle Singletary. George Jones was aware that his concert would be his last, while Daryle Singletary was unaware, adding an eerie element to the song he performed to close the night.

Following Merle Haggard's passing, an anecdote circulated claiming that Toby Keith had assisted him in gracefully exiting the stage during his last performance to maintain his dignity. However, this story turned out to be false. Toby Keith was not present during Haggard's final show, and the individual who deceived us into believing otherwise was also absent.

In reality, the actor W. Earl Brown wasn't present at the event where Keith actually aided Haggard in completing the task. He had simply been informed about it.

Taste of Country uncovered a critique of Haggard's last performance and found a remarkable moment that deserves just as much recognition as the Toby Keith hero story. This is one of six memories from the final concert, which are shared in the above video (and in the pictures below).

Included in this poignant video are John Denver's final performance, Johnny Cash's last song, and Waylon Jennings' made-for-TV farewell.

We absolutely love the Singletary performance. If you are already acquainted with Johnny Paycheck's song "Old Violin," then you know exactly how amazing it is. However, if you are not familiar with it, we highly recommend that you continue watching because it is truly worth it.
