There have been six haunting final concerts by notable artists such as Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, and Daryle Singletary. George Jones was aware that his last concert was approaching, while Daryle Singletary was unaware. However, this lack of knowledge adds an extra layer of eeriness to the song he decided to conclude the evening with.
Following the passing of Merle Haggard, a heartwarming story circulated, claiming that Toby Keith had assisted him in gracefully exiting the stage during his last performance, preserving his dignity. However, this account turned out to be false. Neither Keith nor the individual who deceived us were present during the Hag's final show.
In fact, the individual mentioned, actor W. Earl Brown, did not attend the show where Keith assisted Haggard in completing his performance. He simply learned about it through word of mouth.
Associated: 14 Country Artists Who Should Receive Greater Recognition.
Taste of Country uncovered a review of Haggard's last concert and found a poignant moment that deserves as much recognition as the Toby Keith hero story. This is one of the six memories from his final concert, which can be seen in the video above and in the pictures below.
The video includes John Denver's final performance, Johnny Cash's last song, and Waylon Jennings' made-for-TV farewell, creating a bittersweet experience.
We absolutely love the Singletary performance. If you are already familiar with Johnny Paycheck's song "Old Violin," then you know exactly what we mean. However, if you are not acquainted with it yet, we highly recommend that you continue watching because it is truly worth it.
