Woman’s Heroic Act: Clinging to Moving Car to Save Beloved Dog from Thief

  • by

In Los Angeles, California, a woman displayed immense bravery when she resorted to extreme actions to rescue her cherished French bulldog from a thief.

On January 18, an incident occurred outside of a Whole Foods supermarket where a woman came up to Ali Zacharias, the owner of a dog, and abruptly took the pet away.

The woman held Onyx, a dog, as she walked towards a white car. The car was being driven by another person.

Fearlessly, Zacharias was determined to prevent the thieves from escaping with Onyx. He leaped onto the front of the vehicle and held on tightly as it raced down a crowded street in Los Angeles.

Zacharias recounted the intense moment when he refused to release his grip on the car's windshield wipers, determined not to let go. As the vehicle continued down the street and gained momentum, Zacharias found himself in a state of panic, fearing for his life. This account was shared with CBS News.

Zacharias clinging onto the car's hood was caught on video and has since gained widespread attention online.

Zacharias recounted the incident to NBC News through a TikTok video, explaining that when he tugged on the leash, she assumed he simply wanted to smell something and let go. However, she then noticed a woman holding onto him and walking away. In an attempt to stop them from leaving with her dog, she positioned herself in front of their car and firmly stated that they could not leave because they had her dog. Instead of stopping, they drove towards her, causing her to fall onto the hood of their car. Despite this, she refused to give up and remained on the hood, insisting that she would not leave until they returned her dog. Eventually, they drove away.

Regrettably, Zacharias' brave attempt to save her cute dog was unsuccessful. She managed to hold on for a short distance until the car suddenly changed direction, causing her to be thrown off and sustain minor injuries. Unfortunately, Onyx is still nowhere to be found.

"I feel a sense of sadness whenever I engage in any activity, as I realize that Onyx is not here to experience it with me. Even something as simple as grocery shopping reminds me that I am not buying anything for him. It's hard to believe how quickly time has passed since this situation occurred. It feels like it just happened, and yet it has already been 10 days," she expressed.

The crime is currently being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department, as reported by CBS. The investigation includes the examination of security footage.
