Nate Smith was seen spending time with Avril Lavigne, a popular singer known for her pop-punk style. However, it has been clarified by a reliable source close to one of them that they are not in a romantic relationship.
They are simply acquaintances.
Both The Hollywood Curtain and TMZ released different videos taken by paparazzi of Smith and Lavigne's get-together. It appears that their hangout involved a particular activity that aligns well with the image of the "Sk8er Boi" singer: They went skateboarding.
A video from TMZ captures Lavigne getting out of the back of a black pickup truck at a gas station parking lot with a skateboard in hand. Shortly after, Smith joins her, wearing his typical leather jacket and black baseball cap. He also has a skateboard, but it's evident that he is not as skilled as Lavigne. She quickly glides past him on the sidewalk while he struggles to keep up, using the truck for support.
There is a video from the Hollywood Curtain that captures the moment when Smith and Lavigne are seen leaving Catch Steak, a steakhouse in Los Angeles. It is not completely evident if both videos were recorded on the same night. However, Smith and Lavigne seem to be wearing similar clothes, except Lavigne had to take off her black hooded sweatshirt before leaving the restaurant.
According to TMZ, Smith and Lavigne were just having dinner together as friends, possibly to talk about new music projects.
It's not surprising that Lavigne is mingling with the country music scene. She recently joined Miranda Lambert on stage at the 2023 CMA Fest, where they performed "Kerosene" and "Sk8er Boi" together. Lavigne was also invited to perform at the 2022 ACM Honors ceremony in Nashville, where she paid tribute to Shania Twain, a fellow Canadian, by singing Twain's song "No One Needs to Know."
Regarding Smith, he is currently experiencing success on the country radio charts with his most recent song, "World on Fire." This track comes after his initial chart-topping hit, "Whiskey on You."
