Nate Smith was seen spending time with pop-rock singer Avril Lavigne, but they are not in a romantic relationship. Speculation arose when the two were spotted together in Los Angeles on Monday night (Jan. 29), however, a reliable source close to one of them has denied any romantic involvement.
They are simply acquaintances.
Both The Hollywood Curtain and TMZ released different videos taken by paparazzi of Smith and Lavigne's time together, which appears to have involved a particular activity that perfectly aligns with the "Sk8er Boi" singer's image: skateboarding.
In a video from TMZ, Avril Lavigne is seen getting off the back of a black pickup truck at a gas station parking lot with a skateboard. Shortly after, Smith also joins her, wearing his typical leather jacket and black cap. He also has a skateboard, but it's obvious that he is not as skilled as Lavigne when it comes to skateboarding. As she effortlessly glides down the sidewalk, Smith struggles to keep up, using the side of the truck to balance himself.
Footage captured from the Hollywood Curtain captures a moment when the duo exits Catch Steak, a steakhouse in Los Angeles. It is uncertain if the two videos were filmed during the same evening, but both Smith and Lavigne seem to be dressed in similar attire. However, it should be noted that Lavigne had to take off her black hooded sweatshirt before departing from the restaurant.
According to TMZ, Smith and Lavigne were having dinner together as friends, possibly to talk about new music projects.
It is not surprising that Lavigne is becoming more involved in the country music scene. During the 2023 CMA Fest, she joined Miranda Lambert on stage to perform "Kerosene" and "Sk8er Boi." Lavigne was also invited to perform at the 2022 ACM Honors ceremony in Nashville, where she paid tribute to the talented Canadian artist Shania Twain by singing Twain's song "No One Needs to Know."
Regarding Smith, he is currently experiencing success on the country radio charts with his newest song called "World on Fire." This track comes after his initial chart-topping hit, "Whiskey on You."
