Woman’s Brave Stand: Clinging to Hood of Moving Car to Save Her Stolen Dog

  • by

In Los Angeles, California, a woman displayed immense bravery as she desperately clung to the hood of a moving car in order to rescue her adored French bulldog from a thief.

On January 18, an incident took place outside a Whole Foods supermarket where a woman came up to Ali Zacharias, who was walking her dog, and forcefully took the dog from her.

The woman transported the dog, whose name was Onyx, to a white car that was being operated by another individual.

Fearlessly, Zacharias was determined to prevent the thieves from escaping with Onyx. He leaped onto the car's front and held on tightly as it raced through a crowded street in Los Angeles.

Zacharias expressed that he was determined not to release his grip on the car and held onto the windshield wipers. Without realizing it, they started driving further down the street and accelerating, causing Zacharias to become terrified for his life. This account was shared with CBS News.

A video capturing the event has gained widespread attention online, depicting Zacharias gripping onto the car's hood.

Zacharias recounted the incident to NBC News through a TikTok video, explaining that when he tugged on the leash, she assumed he wanted to go smell something and let go. However, she looked up to find a woman holding her dog and walking away with him. Determined to retrieve her dog, Zacharias positioned herself in front of the car and firmly stated that they could not leave because they had her dog. In response, the individuals driving the car intentionally drove into her, causing her to fall onto the hood of the car. Despite the impact, Zacharias refused to back down and declared that she would not leave until they returned her dog. Undeterred, the individuals continued driving away.

Regrettably, Zacharias' brave attempt to save his cute dog did not succeed. He managed to hold on for a short distance, but the car suddenly turned and he was thrown off, resulting in only minor cuts and bruises. Unfortunately, Onyx is still nowhere to be found.

"No matter what I'm doing, I feel upset that I can't do it with Onyx or that he's not here to experience it. For example, when I go grocery shopping, I think about how I'm not buying anything for him. It feels like time has flown by so fast. It feels like this situation just occurred, but it's already been 10 days," she expressed.

As stated by CBS, the Los Angeles Police Department is currently engaged in an ongoing investigation of the crime, which involves looking into security footage as part of
