The Chilling Farewell: 6 Legendary Country Music Final Concerts

  • by

Here are six concerts that had a haunting atmosphere as they turned out to be the last performances for some legendary artists like Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, and Daryle Singletary. George Jones was aware that his concert was going to be his final one, while Daryle Singletary had no idea. However, his choice of song to close the night added an eerie touch to the event.

Following the passing of Merle Haggard, an anecdote circulated regarding Toby Keith's supposed assistance in ensuring Haggard's graceful exit from the stage. However, this account turned out to be false. Contrary to popular belief, Keith did not attend Haggard's last performance, and the individual who deceived us into believing otherwise was also absent.

In fact, the individual mentioned as W. Earl Brown was not present at the event where Keith assisted Haggard in completing a task. He had only received information about it.

Taste of Country found a review of Haggard's last concert, which revealed a touching moment that deserves as much recognition as the Toby Keith hero story. This beautiful moment is one of the six last concert memories shared in the video above (and in pictures below).

Included in this poignant video are John Denver's final performance, Johnny Cash's last song, and Waylon Jennings' made-for-TV farewell.

We absolutely love the Singletary performance. If you're already familiar with Johnny Paycheck's song "Old Violin," you'll know exactly where he left it. However, if you're not familiar, don't worry, just keep watching and you'll find out.
