Chilling Final Concerts: Remembering the Last Performances of Country Music Legends Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Daryle Singletary, and More

  • by

There have been six haunting final concerts by iconic artists such as Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Daryle Singletary, and more. George Jones was aware that his last concert would be his farewell. On the other hand, Daryle Singletary was unaware of this fact, which adds an extra eerie touch to the song he decided to conclude the evening with.

Following the passing of Merle Haggard, a heartwarming tale circulated, claiming that Toby Keith had assisted him in gracefully departing the stage, preserving his dignity. However, this narrative turned out to be false. Toby Keith was not present during Haggard's last performance, and neither was the individual responsible for deceiving us into believing otherwise.

In fact, the actor W. Earl Brown was not present at the show where Keith genuinely assisted Haggard in his performance. He had only heard about it.

Taste of Country uncovered a review of Haggard's last performance and found a remarkable moment that deserves just as much recognition as the Toby Keith hero story. This is one of six memories from his final concert, which are shared in the video above and in the pictures below.

This video includes the final performance of John Denver, the last song by Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings' made-for-TV farewell performance. It is a poignant collection of these artists' last moments in the spotlight.

Our top choice is the Singletary performance. If you are familiar with the song "Old Violin" by Johnny Paycheck, you will know exactly where he left it. If you are not familiar with it, continue watching.
