Woman’s Brave Act of Clinging to Moving Car to Rescue Stolen Dog Goes Viral

  • by

In Los Angeles, California, a woman bravely held onto the hood of a moving car in order to rescue her cherished French bulldog from a thief.

On January 18, an incident occurred outside a Whole Foods supermarket where a woman approached Ali Zacharias, the owner of a dog, and forcefully took the pet away from her.

The woman transported Onyx, the dog, to a white car that was being operated by another person.

Fearlessly, Zacharias was determined to prevent the thieves from escaping with Onyx. He leaped onto the front of the vehicle and held on tightly as it raced down a crowded street in Los Angeles.

Zacharias recounted his experience to CBS News, explaining that he refused to release his grip on the car's windshield wipers. He found himself unexpectedly being driven down the street at an increasing speed, causing him to panic for his life.

A viral video capturing the incident shows Zacharias gripping onto the car's hood.

Zacharias recounted the incident to NBC News in a TikTok video, explaining that when he tugged on the leash, she initially assumed he wanted to smell something and let go. However, she looked up to find a woman holding her dog and walking away with him. Determined to retrieve her pet, she positioned herself in front of the car and firmly stated that they could not leave with her dog. Despite her protests, they began driving towards her, eventually hitting her and causing her to fall onto the hood of the car. Undeterred, she remained adamant about not leaving until her dog was returned. The individuals in the car then proceeded to drive away.

Regrettably, Zacharias' brave attempts to save her cute dog were unsuccessful. She managed to hold on for a short distance before the car suddenly changed direction and caused her to fall off. As a result, she sustained minor injuries such as cuts and bruises. Sadly, Onyx is still not found.

No matter what I am doing, I feel a sense of sadness because I am not doing it with Onyx or because he is missing out. For example, when I go grocery shopping, I can't help but think that I am not buying anything for him. It feels like time has passed so quickly, and I still can't believe that it has already been 10 days since this happened," she expressed her feelings.

CBS reported that the Los Angeles Police Department is currently engaged in an active investigation of the crime, which involves the examination of security footage.
