6 Chilling Final Concerts: Unforgettable Moments from Country Music Legends

  • by

There have been six unforgettable final concerts by renowned artists such as Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Daryle Singletary, and others. George Jones was aware that his concert would be his last, adding a profound sentiment to his performance. On the other hand, Daryle Singletary was unaware of his impending final concert, making the song he selected to conclude the night even more haunting.

Following the death of Merle Haggard, an interesting story circulated about Toby Keith assisting him in his final performance to ensure that he left the stage with his dignity preserved. However, this story turned out to be false. Toby Keith was not present during Haggard's last show, and neither was the individual responsible for deceiving us into believing otherwise.

In fact, the person being referred to as "that guy" is actor W. Earl Brown, who was not present at the show where Keith actually assisted Haggard. Brown only learned about it through word of mouth.

Taste of Country uncovered a review of Haggard's last concert and found an incredible moment that deserves just as much recognition as the Toby Keith hero story. This is one of six memories from the final concert, which are shared in the video above (and in pictures below).

Included in this emotionally poignant video are John Denver's last live performance, Johnny Cash's final song, and Waylon Jennings' farewell performance made specifically for television.

Our preferred performance is the Singletary one. If you are acquainted with the song "Old Violin" by Johnny Paycheck, you will understand the significance of where he left it. However, if you are not familiar with it, continue watching and discover its impact.
