There were six haunting last performances by renowned artists such as Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Daryle Singletary, and others. George Jones was aware that it would be his last concert, while Daryle Singletary was oblivious to this fact. However, the song he decided to conclude the night with adds an extra layer of eerie significance.
Following the passing of Merle Haggard, a touching account surfaced claiming that Toby Keith had played a role in ensuring that Haggard departed from the stage "with dignity." However, this narrative turned out to be false. In reality, Keith had not been present for Haggard's last performance, and the individual who deceived us into believing otherwise was also absent.
In fact, the actor W. Earl Brown was not present at the show where Keith genuinely assisted Haggard in finishing. He had only heard about it.

Taste of Country uncovered a critique of Haggard's last performance and found a poignant moment that deserves just as much recognition as the Toby Keith hero tale. This is one of six memories from his final concert that are shared in the video above (and in pictures below).
The video includes the last performance of John Denver, the final song of Johnny Cash, and the made-for-TV farewell of Waylon Jennings, all of which evoke a sense of mixed emotions.
We particularly enjoy the Singletary performance. If you are already acquainted with Johnny Paycheck's song "Old Violin," you will understand the reference. However, if you are not familiar with it, continue watching and you will understand.
