Country music star Reba McEntire placed last in a chili cookoff that was judged by Rex Linn. Despite being a cute couple, Reba and Rex don't go easy on each other in cooking competitions.
McEntire took part in a Hillbilly Chili Cookoff where Linn served as one of the judges. Despite their personal relationship, McEntire's connection to Linn did not influence the judging process in her favor.
Interestingly, McEntire finished in last place. As a result, she received a humorous trophy: A chili pepper being flushed down a toilet.
Always maintaining a positive attitude, McEntire posted a video on her social media showcasing her experience at a cookoff where she didn't win, and even included a moment of her gracefully accepting the last place position.
The video below captures the entire event, showcasing various highlights and moments of fun. Notably, country singer Terri Clark participated in the event and ended up in second place.
In a recent appearance on CBS Mornings, McEntire talked about her unsuccessful chili cookoff experience and acknowledged that she has a good understanding of what went awry.
She realized that she forgot to add spices to the dish she was making, but she added chili powder and hatch green chilis thinking it would still turn out well. She was following a recipe from Texas and was very excited about how it would taste.
Despite being Linn's girlfriend, she still ended up in last place. McEntire believes that her relationship with Linn may have softened the blow when the judges announced the news.
"Rex, who was a judge, approached me and quietly informed me. He expressed his apologies and I asked if he would reveal the winner to me. Rex replied that it was not me."
"Then he gave me the prize, which turned out to be a chili pepper in the toilet. So I also made a joke," McEntire adds.
Putting jokes aside, McEntire also discussed her connection with Linn and the reasons for its success. The two have been acquainted for a long time, having first met in 1991 during the filming of the Kenny Rogers movie The Gambler Returns. However, their romantic relationship did not begin until they reconnected in 2020. Prior to this, McEntire was married to her husband Narvel Blackstock, with whom she has a son named Shelby.
During a conversation with Rex, McEntire wondered aloud why they hadn't connected sooner. Rex pointed out that one reason might have been because she was previously married. McEntire describes Rex as fun and energetic, while she feels that she has become more mellow. She believes that they have met each other at the perfect time in their lives.
Following this, McEntire will be traveling to Las Vegas to perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Additionally, she is working on a new television show that will reunite her with some of the people who worked on her popular series, Reba.
