Reba McEntire came in last place in a chili cookoff that was judged by Rex Linn. Despite being a cute couple in country music, they didn't go easy on each other in the competition.
McEntire recently took part in a Hillbilly Chili Cookoff, where Linn was serving as a judge. Despite their personal relationship, it did not influence the judging process in McEntire's favor.
McEntire actually came in last place in the competition. As a consolation prize, she received a trophy shaped like a chili pepper going down a toilet.
Always willing to have a good time, McEntire posted a video on social media of her participation in a cooking competition that didn't go well, showing her gracefully accepting the fact that she came in last place.
The complete video below depicts the entire event, with additional interesting details included. Country singer Terri Clark participated in the competition and ended up in second place.
In a recent appearance on CBS Mornings, Reba McEntire discussed her unsuccessful experience at a chili cookoff and acknowledged that she has a good understanding of what went awry.
She realized that she forgot to add any spices to the dish, but she tried to make up for it by adding chili powder and hatch green chilis. She was following a recipe from Texas and was very excited about how it would turn out.
Even though Linn was in last place, being McEntire's girlfriend may have helped soften the blow when the judges announced the news.
"Rex, who was one of the judges, approached me and quietly informed me. He expressed his apologies and then revealed that I was not the winner of the competition."
"Then he gave me the prize, which turned out to be a chili pepper in the toilet. So I made a joke about it," McEntire explained.
Putting humor aside, McEntire discussed her strong connection with Linn and the reasons behind its success. They have been acquainted for a long time, meeting in 1991 during the making of the film The Gambler Returns starring Kenny Rogers. Although they didn't feel a romantic spark until 2020, McEntire was previously married to Narvel Blackstock, her husband of many years, with whom she has a son named Shelby.
During a conversation with Rex, McEntire pondered why they hadn't connected sooner. Rex pointed out that one reason could be because she was previously married. McEntire describes Rex as fun and energetic, while she has become more relaxed. She believes they have crossed paths at the perfect moment.
Afterwards, McEntire is going to Las Vegas to perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Additionally, she is working on a new sitcom that will reunite her with some of the people who worked on her popular TV show, Reba.
