Country music star Reba McEntire placed last in a chili cookoff competition judged by her partner, actor Rex Linn. Despite being a cute couple, they don't take it easy on each other in competitions.
McEntire recently took part in a Hillbilly Chili Cookoff, where Linn served as one of the judges. Despite their personal relationship, McEntire did not receive any special treatment during the judging.
McEntire actually finished in the last place. As a consolation prize, she received a trophy that had a chili pepper being flushed down a toilet.
Always a gracious participant, McEntire posted a video on social media of her experience at a cookoff where she didn't win, showing a moment where she gracefully accepted finishing in last place.
The complete video shows the entire event, with additional interesting details included. Country singer Terri Clark also participated and ended up in second place.
In a recent appearance on CBS Mornings, McEntire talked about her unsuccessful chili cookoff experience and acknowledged that she has a good understanding of what went awry.
She realized that she forgot to add all the spices to her dish, but she was still enthusiastic about adding chili powder and hatch green chilis because it was a recipe from Texas. She thought it would turn out great.
Even though Linn's relationship with McEntire didn't improve her standing, it likely softened the blow of being in last place when the judges announced the results.
"Rex, who was a judge, approached me and quietly told me the outcome. He expressed his apologies and when I asked if he would reveal the winner, he confirmed that it was not me."
"Then he gave me the award, which turned out to be a chili pepper inside a toilet. So I ended up throwing mine away," McEntire elaborates.
Putting aside the humor, McEntire discussed her connection with Linn and what makes their relationship successful. They have been acquainted for a long time, having first met in 1991 during the filming of The Gambler Returns movie with Kenny Rogers. However, their romantic feelings didn't emerge until they reconnected in 2020. Before that, McEntire was married to her husband Narvel Blackstock for a long time and they have a son named Shelby together.
Once, I asked Rex why they didn't get together sooner, and he mentioned that one reason could be because she was previously married. McEntire described Rex as fun and full of energy, while she has become more relaxed. She believes they met at the perfect time in their lives.
Following this, McEntire will be traveling to Las Vegas to perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Additionally, she is working on a new comedy series where she will be working with some of the same people who were involved in her popular show, Reba.
