McEntire took part in a Hillbilly Chili Cookoff where Linn served as a judge. Despite their personal relationship, McEntire did not receive any special treatment during the judging.
McEntire actually finished in last place. As a result, she received a humorous trophy as a consolation prize: a chili pepper being flushed down a toilet.
McEntire showed her good sportsmanship by posting a video on social media of her unsuccessful cooking competition experience. The video included a clip of her gracefully accepting the last place position.

In a recent appearance on CBS Mornings, McEntire discussed her experience with a chili cookoff mishap and acknowledged that she has a good understanding of what caused it.
She forgot to add the spices to the dish she was making, but tried to make up for it by adding chili powder and hatch green chilis, thinking it would still turn out well. The recipe she was following was from Texas, and she was really enthusiastic about it.
Despite being Linn's girlfriend, it did not prevent her from ending up in last place. However, McEntire believes that her relationship with Linn may have made it a bit easier for her to handle the disappointment when the judges announced the results.
"Rex, who was a judge, approached me and quietly informed me. He expressed his regret and told me that I did not win the competition when I asked him to reveal the winner."
"Then he passed me the award, which turned out to be a chili pepper in a toilet. So I joked that mine did its business," McEntire elaborates.
Without joking, McEntire talked about her connection with Linn and what makes their relationship successful. They have been acquainted for a long time, meeting in 1991 during the filming of the movie The Gambler Returns. However, they only started to feel a romantic spark when they reconnected in 2020. Prior to this, McEntire was married to her husband Narvel Blackstock, with whom she has a son named Shelby.
During a conversation with Rex, Reba McEntire wondered why they hadn't connected sooner. Rex mentioned that one reason could have been because she was previously married. McEntire describes Rex as fun and energetic, while she has become more relaxed. She believes they have crossed paths at the perfect moment in their lives.
