McEntire actually ended up in last place. As a result, she received a trophy as a humorous consolation prize: a chili pepper going down a toilet.
Always willing to have a good time, McEntire posted a video on her social media of her not-so-successful cookoff experience, showing her gracefully taking last place.

On a recent appearance on CBS Mornings, McEntire talked about her unsuccessful chili cookoff experience and acknowledged that she has a good understanding of what went awry.
She realized that she forgot to add the spices to the dish she was making. Instead, she added chili powder and hatch green chilis to give it flavor, following a Texas recipe. She was excited about how it would turn out.
Even though Linn's girlfriend status didn't improve her ranking, McEntire believes that it may have softened the disappointment when the judges announced their decision.
During the competition, one of the judges named Rex approached me and quietly revealed the news that I didn't win. He expressed his apologies and when I asked him who the winner was, he confirmed it wasn't me.
"Then he gave me the prize, which turned out to be a chili pepper placed in the toilet. So I ended up throwing it away," McEntire added.
Putting humor aside, McEntire discussed her connection with Linn and the reasons behind its success. They have been acquainted for a long time, meeting in 1991 during the filming of The Gambler Returns with Kenny Rogers. However, their romantic feelings did not develop until they reconnected in 2020. Prior to this, McEntire was married to her husband Narvel Blackstock, with whom she has a son named Shelby.
During a conversation with Rex, Reba McEntire pondered why they hadn't connected sooner. Rex mentioned that one reason could have been her past marriage. McEntire describes Rex as lively and energetic, while she has become more relaxed. She believes that they have come together at the perfect time in their lives.
