The last performances of Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Daryle Singletary, and others were hauntingly memorable. George Jones was aware it was his final show, while Daryle Singletary was not, adding an eerie significance to the song he performed to close the night.
Following Merle Haggard's passing, a story circulated about Toby Keith assisting him in exiting the stage with dignity during his last performance. However, this story turned out to be false as Keith was not present at Haggard's final show, and the individual who spread the misinformation was also not in attendance.
In truth, actor W. Earl Brown was not present at the event where Keith assisted Haggard. He had only heard about it secondhand.

Taste of Country uncovered a review of Merle Haggard's last concert, revealing a touching moment that deserves as much recognition as the Toby Keith heroic story. This moment is one of six final concert memories showcased in the video above and in the images below.
The video includes John Denver's final performance, Johnny Cash's last song, and Waylon Jennings' made-for-TV farewell.
We really enjoy the Singletary performance the most. If you know the song "Old Violin" by Johnny Paycheck, you'll recognize where he left off. If you're not familiar with it, continue watching.
