6 Chilling Final Concerts: Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Daryle Singletary + More – A Tribute to Country Music Legends

  • by

Here are six memorable final concerts from artists like Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Daryle Singletary, and more. While George Jones was aware that his performance was his last, Daryle Singletary was not, which added an eerie quality to the last song he performed that night.

Following Merle Haggard's passing, there was a popular story circulating about Toby Keith assisting him in exiting the stage with dignity during his final performance. However, this story turned out to be false, as Keith was not present at Haggard's last show and the individual who spread the misinformation was also absent.

In fact, the actor W. Earl Brown was not present at the show where Keith really assisted Haggard in finishing. He only found out about it afterwards.

Check out these 14 country music artists who deserve to be recognized and appreciated

Taste of Country found a review of what seems to be Haggard's last concert and found a touching moment that deserves just as much recognition as the Toby Keith hero story. This is one of six memories from his final concert that are shared in the video above and in the pictures below.

The video includes John Denver's final performance, Johnny Cash's last song, and Waylon Jennings' made-for-TV farewell performance, creating a bittersweet experience for viewers.

We really enjoyed the Singletary performance. If you know the song "Old Violin" by Johnny Paycheck, you'll recognize the emotional impact of where he left off. If you're not familiar with the song, make sure to watch the performance.
