6 Haunting Last Performances: Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Daryle Singletary + More
George Jones was aware that his last concert was approaching. On the other hand, Daryle Singletary was not, which added an eerie quality to the song he selected to close the evening.
Following Merle Haggard's passing, a story circulated about Toby Keith assisting him in exiting the stage gracefully, but this turned out to be false. Keith was not present for Haggard's last performance, and neither was the individual who misled others into believing otherwise.
In reality, actor W. Earl Brown was not present at the show where Keith helped Haggard. He only learned about it after the fact.

Taste of Country found a review of what may have been Haggard's last concert and found a special moment that deserves as much recognition as the Toby Keith hero story. This is one of six memories from his final concert that are shared in the video above (and in the pictures below).
The video features John Denver's final performance, Johnny Cash's last song, and Waylon Jennings' farewell performance made for television.
Our top choice is the Singletary performance. If you are already acquainted with Johnny Paycheck's "Old Violin," then you will understand the significance of where he left it. If you are not familiar with the song, continue watching to find out.
