6 Haunting Last Performances: Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Daryle Singletary and Others

George Jones was aware that his last concert was approaching. On the other hand, Daryle Singletary was not, which added an extra eerie feeling to the song he decided to close the night with.

Following Merle Haggard's passing, there was a widely spread story about Toby Keith assisting him in exiting the stage gracefully. However, it was later revealed that this story was false. Toby Keith was not present at Haggard's final performance, and the individual who spread the misinformation was also not in attendance.

Taste of Country found a review of what may have been Haggard's last concert and uncovered a special moment that deserves just as much recognition as the Toby Keith hero story. This is one of six memories from his final concert that are shared in the video above (and in pictures below).

The last performance of John Denver, the final song of Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings' made-for-TV farewell are all featured in this emotional video.

We really enjoy the Singletary performance. If you've heard Johnny Paycheck's song "Old Violin," you'll recognize the emotion he captured. If you haven't heard it before, be sure to watch and listen.
