McEntire recently took part in a Hillbilly Chili Cookoff where Linn served as one of the judges. Despite their personal connection, it did not influence the judging process in any way.
McEntire actually finished in last place. As a result, she received a humorous trophy: a chili pepper going down a toilet.
McEntire, always a good sport, posted a video on social media of her unsuccessful cookoff experience. The video included a moment where she gracefully accepted coming in last place.

In a recent interview on CBS Mornings, McEntire talked about her unsuccessful experience at a chili cookoff and acknowledged that she has a good understanding of what went awry.
She forgot to add any spices, but she did add chili powder and hatch green chilis to the dish, thinking it would turn out well. She was following a recipe from Texas and was really looking forward to how it would turn out.
Despite being Linn's girlfriend, it didn't prevent her from ending up in last place. However, McEntire believes that her relationship status may have helped soften the blow when the judges announced the results.
Rex, who was a judge, approached me and quietly told me the result. He expressed his regret and informed me that I did not win.
"He gave me the trophy, which turned out to be a chili pepper in the toilet. So I ended up flushing it down," McEntire explained.
Setting aside humor, McEntire discussed her strong connection with Linn and the reasons behind its success. The couple has been acquainted for a long time, first meeting in 1991 during the filming of The Gambler Returns alongside Kenny Rogers. However, their romantic relationship did not begin until they reconnected in 2020. Prior to this, McEntire was married to Narvel Blackstock, her husband of many years, with whom she has a son named Shelby.
During a conversation with Rex, McEntire pondered why they didn't connect sooner. Rex pointed out that one reason could be because she was previously married. McEntire describes Rex as fun and energetic, while she feels she has become more relaxed. She believes they have come together at the perfect moment in their lives.
Following that, McEntire will be traveling to Las Vegas to perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Additionally, she is working on a new comedy show that will involve reuniting with some of the individuals who were part of her popular TV series, Reba.
