Super Bowl 58: The Most Expensive Ticket in History – What’s Driving the High Prices?

  • by

Super Bowl 58 is on track to have the priciest tickets ever. If you plan on attending this year's game, you'll need to be prepared to spend a lot of money.

As of Thursday, the lowest-priced single ticket available was $8,000 on the ticket resale website TickPick. This ticket would provide you with a seat in the upper 300 section, although it is important to note that there is a guarantee for the seat at that price.

If the prices remain the same, this Super Bowl ticket will be recorded as the most costly in history. The previous record holder was the 2020 Super Bowl, where the average ticket price was $6,370. One of the main reasons for the high price that year was the presence of the home team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in the game. However, this year, the home team is not playing in the Super Bowl.

The upcoming Super Bowl will be the first one hosted in Las Vegas, which is causing ticket prices to rise as fans are excited about the opportunity to enjoy a weekend in Sin City followed by the world's largest sporting event.

In case you were curious, the average price for a ticket to the inaugural Super Bowl was $12.

The proximity to the team's location is a significant driver for 49er fans when purchasing tickets. According to StubHub, 26 percent of ticket sales come from California, where fans have a shorter distance to travel to watch their favorite team play. In contrast, Kansas and Missouri account for only 7 percent of ticket sales on the website.

Let's also consider the influence of Taylor Swift! Her presence at the event could attract a larger female audience than usual.

Regardless of how you enter, Allegiant Stadium's 65,000 seats will be filled to capacity. Super Bowl 58 will start on Sunday, February 11th at 6:30PM ET.
