Reba McEntire Takes Last Place in Chili Cookoff Judged by Rex Linn: Watch the Hilarious Outcome!

  • by

Country music star Reba McEntire did not win a chili cookoff contest judged by Rex Linn, despite being in a relationship with him. Their competitiveness in cook-off contests shows that they do not go easy on each other, even though they are considered a cute couple in the music industry.

McEntire took part in a Hillbilly Chili Cookoff where Linn served as one of the judges. Despite their personal connection, McEntire did not receive any special treatment during the judging.

McEntire actually finished in last place. As a consolation prize, she received a trophy depicting a chili pepper being flushed down a toilet.

Always willing to have fun, McEntire posted a video on social media of her not-so-successful cooking competition experience, showing her gracefully accepting the fact that she came in last place.

The complete video below captures the entire event, along with some additional interesting details. For instance, country singer Terri Clark participated in the competition and came in second place.

In a recent appearance on CBS Mornings, Reba McEntire talked about her unsuccessful experience at a chili cookoff and acknowledged that she has a good understanding of what went awry.

"I forgot to add the spices," she confessed. "I added chili powder and hatch green chilis, thinking it would be enough. I was following a Texas recipe and was really excited about it."

Despite being in a relationship with Linn, it didn't change the fact that she ended up in last place. McEntire believes that her girlfriend status may have slightly softened the impact when the judges announced the news.

"Rex, who was a judge, approached me and quietly told me the news. He expressed his sympathy and revealed that I was not the winner of the competition."

"Then he gave me the award, and it turned out to be a chili pepper in the toilet. So I ended up throwing mine away," McEntire elaborates.

Setting aside any humor, McEntire discussed her connection with Linn and why it is successful. The two have been acquainted for a long time, meeting in 1991 during the making of the Kenny Rogers film The Gambler Returns, but their romantic relationship didn't begin until they reconnected in 2020. During that time, McEntire was married to her husband Narvel Blackstock, with whom she has a son named Shelby.

During a conversation, McEntire mentioned to Rex that she wondered why they hadn't connected sooner. Rex pointed out that one reason could have been that she was previously married. McEntire describes Rex as fun and energetic, while she has become more relaxed. She believes that they have come together at the perfect moment in their lives.

Following this, McEntire is going to Las Vegas to perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Additionally, she is working on a new television show that will reunite her with some of the people who were involved in her popular series, Reba.
