Inside Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd’s Divorce: Child Support, Property Division, and What Led to the Split

  • by

Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd have completed their divorce process, as a judge has approved and finalized the separation.

Based on legal papers obtained by People magazine, the two country singers officially ended their relationship in Nashville on Tuesday (Jan. 30). This comes shortly after they came to an agreement on how to divide their property and handle child support in early January.

The former partners have come to an agreement regarding financial support for their child. As stated in recent legal documents, Morris will provide $2,100 per month to Hurd, and they will share custody of their son. They have also decided to divide their assets according to the terms of their prenuptial agreement and settlement.

Morris and Hurd have not discussed their breakup much on social media. In a late 2023 interview on the Howard Stern Show, Morris mentioned that she was not considering dating again at that time.

She expressed her desire for the divorce process to be completed soon, as she is currently focused on writing and doesn't have the mental capacity to deal with it. She mentioned that writing music has become her way of expressing her emotions and experiences, almost like a form of dating for her.

What is the story behind Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd's meeting?

Morris and Hurd were working together as songwriters in 2013 when they started a romantic relationship. They continued to collaborate and eventually got engaged in 2017, getting married the following year. Over the years, they often performed together on stage, usually singing their popular duet "Chasing After You."

Both singers were once under contract with Sony Music Nashville, but Morris decided to part ways with mainstream country music before filing for divorce. She plans to release music under the label's New York branch instead. Hurd's name is no longer found on Sony Music Nashville's website.
